Συγγραφέας

Ο Μπέρναρντ Κόρνγουελ γεννήθηκε το 1944 στο Λονδίνο και μεγάλωσε στο Έσεξ. Εργάστηκε στο BBC ως παραγωγός στην εκπομπή "Nationwide" και ως διευθυντής του τμήματος τρεχουσών υποθέσεων στη Βόρεια Ιρλανδία. Το 1979 εγκαταστάθηκε στην Αμερική, όπου και ζει μέχρι σήμερα με τη γυναίκα του. Από τότε έχει αφοσιωθεί στο γράψιμο, αφού, όπως λέει ο ίδιος, ήταν το μόνο επάγγελμα που μπορούσε να ασκήσει χωρίς να χρειάζεται πράσινη κάρτα! Έχει γράψει μια σειρά ιστορικών μυθιστορημάτων για την περίοδο των Ναπολεόντειων Πολέμων, με ήρωα τον Ρίτσαρντ Σαρπ, τα οποία τον έχουν κάνει διάσημο: έχουν πουλήσει περισσότερα από τέσσερα εκατομμύρια αντίτυπα σε εννιά γλώσσες και έχουν γυριστεί σε σειρά για την τηλεόραση με χιλιάδες φανατικούς τηλεθεατές. Ο Κόρνγουελ είναι πολύ αγαπητός στους αναγνώστες του· πριν από καιρό, μάλιστα, ανέλαβε να ξεναγήσει μια ομάδα από αυτούς στο πεδίο μάχης του Βατερλό. Αυτός είναι ίσως ένας από τους λόγους που θεωρείται ο πιο πετυχημένος συγγραφέας στην Αγγλία του εκδοτικού οίκου Harper Collins. Ο Κόρνγουελ είναι επίσης ο συγγραφέας της "Τριλογίας του Βασιλιά Αρθούρου". Το 2006 του απονεμήθηκε ο τίτλος Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE), για τις υπηρεσίες του στη λογοτεχνία.
