Από το 1968 έως το 1978, δίδαξε στο Πανεπιστήμιο Γουίνδσορ του Καναδά και τη δημιουργική αυτή δεκαετία εξέδιδε δύο με τρία βιβλία το χρόνο. Σήμερα διδάσκει στο Πανεπιστήμιο Πρίνστον του Νιου Τζέρσι. She is the Roger S. Berlind Distinguished Professor of Humanities at Princeton University.
