Ο βρετανός ιστορικός Νάιαλ Φέργκιουσον (πλήρες όνομα: Niall Campbell Douglas Ferguson) γεννήθηκε το 1964 στη Γλασκώβη. Είναι καθηγητής Ιστορίας στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Xάρβαρντ και στο London School of Economics (LSE), μέλος του Κολεγίου Jesus του Πανεπιστημίου της Οξφόρδης και μέλος του Ινστιτούτου Hoover του Πανεπιστημίου του Στάνφορντ. Θεωρείται από τους πιο ανανεωτικούς ιστορικούς της εποχής μας, με ειδίκευση στη διεθνή ιστορία και στην οικονομική ιστορία.
