Συγγραφέας

Ο Νόαμ Τσόμσκυ γεννήθηκε το 1928 στην Πενσυλβάνια των ΗΠΑ. Είναι παγκοσμίως γνωστός ως πολιτικός ακτιβιστής, συγγραφέας και ομότιμος καθηγητής γλωσσολογίας του Ινστιτούτου Τεχνολογίας της Μασαχουσέτης (ΜΙΤ), όπου άρχισε να διδάσκει το 1955. Έχει γράψει και διδάξει γλωσσολογία, φιλοσοφία και πολιτική. Στα έργα του συμπεριλαμβάνονται τα βιβλία: "Εξουσίες και προοπτικές", "Νέα και παλιά παγκόσμια τάξη", "Αποτρέποντας τη δημοκρατία", "Κατασκευάζοντας τη συναίνεση" (με τον Ε.Σ. Χέρμαν), "Έτος 501: η κατάκτηση συνεχίζεται", "Τα κέρδη πάνω από τους ανθρώπους", "Ο νέος στρατιωτικός ανθρωπισμός", "Νέοι ορίζοντες στη μελέτη της γλώσσας και της νόησης", "Τρομοκρατικά κράτη" και "Μια νέα γενιά χαράζει τα όρια". Παραμένει από τους επιφανέστερους εκπροσώπους της "αριστερής" αμερικανικής σκέψης. Οι προσπάθειές του για τη διεύρυνση της δημοκρατίας και για μια μη βίαιη υπερδύναμη, έχουν τιμηθεί σε όλο τον κόσμο από κινήματα ειρήνης και κοινωνικής δικαιοσύνης.
